THE PHILIPPINE Olympic Committee has shelved a plan to build a sports center in Clark Field, Pampanga, shifting its focus on the sprawling Philippine Arena which is nearing completion in Marilao, Bulacan, as the training hub of national athletes.

A world-class sports facility owned by the Iglesia ni Cristo and situated next to the north-bound lanes of NLEx, the Philippine Arena is being built on 7.5 hectares of land and will have a dome of 3.6 hectares. It is said to be the largest multipurpose arena in the world.

A Christian Science Church building behind Queen's University, Belfast has been sold to the worldwide Iglesia ni Cristo (Church of Christ) which has its headquarters in the Philippines.

A handing-over ceremony took place yesterday in the landmark building.

The church, a listed building, was bought for an estimated £600,000.

The architectural designs of Islamic mosques and non-Catholic Christian churches, particularly of the Iglesia ni Cristo, will be the focus of this year’s Archi[types/text] 2013, the flagship project of the National Committee on Architecture and Allied Arts (NCAAA) for the Philippine Arts Festival (PAF) organized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts  (NCCA).

Thousands gather for INC Unity Games in Pampanga

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Thousands of brethren from the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) recently gathered at the Pampanga Sports Complex in this city for the elimination round of the Church’s Central Luzon leg of the Unity Games 2013.

According to Brethren Joel Mapiles, who is also Capitol’s Provincial Information Officer, the 2013 Unity Games is a multi-sport and multi-region event and the largest athletic competition hosted for members of the INC.

Now on its 3rd year, it is being held nationwide in 19 regional venues with 94 participating districts.

INC holds unity games in Negros Occidental

Thousands of members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo across Negros Occidental will converge today at the Panaad Park and Sports Stadium for the 1st INC Unity Games that will start at 6:30 a.m., a press release from the INC said.

The one-day Unity Games is the third version of a church- wide sports event that started in 2010 and is part of the run-up for the INC's Centennial Celebration in 2014.

Participants will compete for the top honors in 12 sporting events that include basketball, volleyball, table tennis, bowling, badminton, baseball, swimming, and track and field events.
